FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
| "I'm a men's level 1 in CMSA but men's 2 in SASS, can't I compete as a men's 1 in your event?"
Reply: Contestants must compete at the highest level (division) achieved in any national organization for mounted shooting, be it CMSA, SASS or MSA. You would be required to compete as a M2 for our event."
"What happens if my horse becomes lame or sick just prior to the event and I have paid my entry fees?"
Reply: We understand that horses get sick or injured. SInce this is a fund-raiser event we would strongly recommend that you find an alternate horse to ride, but we would refund your entry fees if necessary.
"How do I qualify for the Eliminator Match to win $10,000?"
Reply: This is the most frequently asked question! Here it is in the nutshell.... All contestants will compete in the 3 stage Qualifier Match on Friday and Saturday. There are six divisions for each classification: Men's Divisions 1-6 and Ladies DIvision 1-6. To qualify to compete in the Eliminator Match (the match for $10,000) you MUST qualify in the TOP 25% of your division (Men's Level 3, Ladies Level 4... etc.) to be eligible for the Eliminator Match. For example: If you are a Ladies Level 3 and there are 20 contestants in this division.... after scores are tallied the top 25% will move on and 5 lucky ladies will have a chance to win 10 Grand!
Once you have qualified for the Eliminator Match...... you will be compete in two classifications: "Open" and "Masters" with two divisions: "Mens" and "Ladies".
• OPEN MEN’S CLASSIFICATION – DIVISION 1, 2, 3 • OPEN LADIES CLASSIFICATION – DIVISION 1, 2, 3 • MASTER MEN’S CLASSIFICATION – DIVISION 4, 5, 6 • MASTER LADIES CLASSIFICATION – DIVISIOIN 4, 5, 6
For Further information please refer to our Event Rules link. If any rider is uncertain or needs further information regarding this topic, please call us and we'll make certain you understand. Remember, this match has three different competitions to it!
"How many horses may I enter?"
Reply: A contestant may enter up to 3 horses.
"How many riders move forward if there are 18 people in my class for the top 25%?"
Reply: The answer is 5. Twenty-five percent of that number is 4.5 so we would take an extra person. Anytime there is a decimal point to the calculations, we will take the extra rider.
"Can I ride a horse that I did not ride in the Qualifier Match?"
Reply: Heck no! You must ride the Eliminator on the same horse you qualified on. If you have two entries and you only qualify on one horse.... you cannot switch horses. There are no exceptions!!!
"My wife and I share a horse can we both compete on him?"
Reply: Yes, since both you and your wife are in different divisions you can enter and share the same horse.
"My brother and I are in the same division 2, can we share a horse?"
Reply: No. Two contestants cannot share a horse if they are both in the same division.
"When will the cut off date be or deadline for entering this event?"
Reply: This event is based on the number of entries. We have limited this event to the first 300 entries. Remember, contestants can enter up to 3 horses so this deadline is fast approaching. If you are planning to compete don't hesitate to send it your registration. This is a first come, first serve basis. We feel that we can get 300 riders through the Qualifying Match swiftly at this facility. Any more riders would lengthen our schedule and make it stressful for the riders.
"Is it really true that you can win a new truck at this event?"
Reply: Absolutely, it's true! If you qualify to be in the Eliminator Match, and you are one of the Top 10 riders after the scores are tallied.... you will have a chance to win a new truck in the "Top Gun" Match. To qualify for the "Top Gun" match, you must be one of the top 10 riders, (Men and Ladies combined) in each classification. We will take 10 riders from the Open Classification and 10 from the Masters Classification. Twenty riders will ride for it.... but only one will drive away with it! Woo Hoo!
"If I win the new truck, do I have to pay taxes on it?"
Yes. The IRS will require you to claim this prize and treat your winnings the same as they would if you had won in Las Vegas gambling. I would encourage everyone to check with their tax person if you have questions.
My daughter is a Junior Ladies 2. What class does she compete in for "Rundown For Life"?"
Reply: Your daughter would compete in the regular Ladies Level 2 for the Qualifier Match. This event does not have classifications or divisions for Seniors or Juniors. Everyone will compete in the normal 1-6 divisions.
"Can we wear logos on our shirts during the competition?"
Reply: Hey, this is rodeo y'all! If someone wants to wear their favorite brand... it's ok by me! If Ladies want to wear fringed shirts as in barrel racing... go for it! I will absolutely enforce that there are no "tobacco related logos or names" or any brands that are affiliated in causing cancer. This event will be highly visible and we encourage all riders to be respectful and tasteful. As in all rodeos, the dress requirements are enforced to Boots, Long-sleeve Shirt and a Western hat! More information is posted in the Event Rules link. Period Dress is always welcomed.
"What does Cowboy Black Tie mean?"
Reply: It means this is a formal dinner but getting a cowboy to wear a suit is nearly impossible! "Cowboy Black Tie" means wear what is comfortable for your likin'. Cowboys are usually in clean jeans and a sports jacket and wearing their Stetson! Cowgirls will be wearing everything from Period Ball Gowns (like at the SASS Ballrooms) to more modern day attire. I have a feeling there will be lots of bling from our cowgirls!
"Does the entry fee include a stall for my horse?"
Reply: Industry Hills Expo Center has 250 barn stalls available. Entry fees do include one stall but this is only available for the first 250 entries received. This is a first come, first served basis. Contestants must bring their own portable pens after we are full. We will confirm your stall reservation (or not) after we receive your registration forms.
"I really want to register for this event but financially I don't have enough money yet. What can I do?"
Reply: If you send us a deposit to confirm your entry, the balance of the fees would be required 30 days before the event date. If balance is not paid by this date, we would give your space to the next in line. All deposit moneys will not be refundable. A $200 deposit is required.
"What kind of camping spaces are there at this arena?"
Reply: This is dry camping. There are hot showers available but no electricity for your Rv's. There is ample room for all of our trailers & RV's. Hot and Cold wash-racks are available also for you horses.
"Is there cash prizes also for the Qualifier Match?"
Reply: No there's not. However, there are great prizes for this. Buckles will be awarded for all 1st place division winners and Overall Cowboy and Overall Cowgirl will be awarded a new Colt .45 single action revolver. Thanks to our sponsors Colt Manufacturing and AJ Horses for this grand opportunity! We have special prize drawings "Luck of the Draw" throughout this production and maybe you'll be a lucky winner of a Colt revolver too, even though you aren't a division winner. There's lots of great prizes in our goodie bag!!!
"I was diagnosed with cancer years ago. Do I qualify to run in the Survivor's Run?"
Reply: Anyone who has "ever" been diagnosed with any type of cancer is invited to ride in our highlighted event, the "Survivors Run"! There is no additional fees and everyone will be winners! For the Overall Cowboy and Overall Cowgirl we will award special trophy saddles, Reserve winners will be awarded Colt .45 single action revolvers! This spectacular event will highlight all mounted shooters who have survived this rotten disease! Please let us know you'll be joining us so we can make our special arrangements.
"I want to have 3 entries. Can I ride for the same person on all three horses or do I have to have other dedications?"
Reply: You can certainly ride for the same person. "Who Are You Running For?" is not a mandatory requirement to answer. If a contestant does not have know of any person with cancer... then they can simply say they are riding for support or for cancer awareness. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all didn't know someone who was a victim. One day, I pray!
Please direct all questions to info@rundownrodeos. I will promptly answer and give you all the detailed information regarding your questions. It's my sincere desire to be sure that everyone completely understands the events, requirements and everything involved with "Rundown For Life". Thank you!
